The Story Behind the Bottle
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate calls Puglia the home of "sensational bargains of real soul". Given the intensity of the sunshine and the ripeness of the grapes, it's hardly surprising that superb flavours are the order of the day. Made by Leonardo Palumbo, Matervitae Fiano won Gold at Mundus Vini and was commended by the judges at the Decanter World Wine Awards for its "honey, pineapple, pear drops, candied fruit and citrusy acidity". The Fiano grape has thrived here for many centuries - it was much admired by the Romans. Like other Italian grapes, Fiano is now becoming so popular that it is grown successfully as far afield as Australia. But for authenticity, Puglia's deliciously fresh, food friendly Matervitae takes some beating
