Nearly 50 years of going direct to winemakers gave us first call on these harvest clearance deals. First up, the pocket-sized Domaine de la Chapelle. Like its famous £100-per-bottle neighbour, it makes luscious reds from the classic grapes of Bordeaux - blackcurranty Cabernet Sauvignon and velvety Merlot. Next, a satin-smooth gulp of indulgent dark fruit from Château Saumade - tucked away in rustic Corbières, where the scorching sun ripens grapes to perfection. Last, for five generations the Bonfils family have made their labour-of-love Château Villerambert from the same tiny vineyard. This is proper Minervois at its dark, characterful, spicy best.
