Moorhouse's Black Cat is light to medium bodied, smooth and creamy with just a tickle of carbonation. It's a classic dark 'session ale' to enjoy on its own, outdoors with a ploughman's lunch, or indoors by the fire with a hearty steak and kidney pie.

The Food & Drink
Moorhouse's was established in 1865 as a mineral water business by Burnley lad William Moorhouse. He was so successful that by 1870 he was able to build business premises that incorporated stables and also houses for workers and the Moorhouse family. William's sons eventually took over and early in the 20th century began making low alcohol hop bitters. In 1978 a local entrepreneur bought the premises and equipment from the last surviving Moorhouse family member and created a cask ale brewery. Black Cat is a 'mild ale', a term applied to young, mildly hopped, low gravity beers with an abv of between 3% and 3.6%. Once the staple of the pub trade in Britain, mild ales' popularity declined in the 1960s but has recently seen a welcome revival.
